FOOD ASSURANCE
PROGRAMME Objective:
To assure and provide Food and Cash to the families, which are in
need, in exchange for their manual labour and to prevent migration of
labours in the Drought effected villages. Þ
The Wage
seekers were selected in the Grama Sabhas conducted in the villages
involving all village organizations. Þ
Each
family provided 50Kg rice and Rs.100/- cash per month for a period of (4)
months or till completion of work. Þ
The
following types of works were given priority in sanctioning the works
under the programme. i)
Feeder Channel ii)
Trench cutting to tanks iii)
Percolation tank iv)
Strengthening of M.I.Tank Bunds v)
Formation of Roads Þ
The
following rates are allowed for excavation of earth works as per the Govt.
orders time to time. ·

+ Rs.10/- Cash per cum for ordinary soil wef 1.2.05 to 31.3.05 as per GO

+ Rs.16/- Cash per cum for ordinary soils 10% extra on above rates for
Hard soils, wef 01.04.05 to 15.07.05 as per GO. Ms. No. 91, dtd:
28.03.2005. Under
the scheme, (752) villages are covered out of (776) Drought affected
villages covering 1,00,455 wage seekers. (1289) works have been taken up
with an estimated cost of Rs. 1366.81 lakhs, out of which (1003) works are
grounded and 629 completed. 4460.230 MTs of rice, 75.60 Lakhs cash distributed and
4,46,023 lakhs of mandays generated. (194)
No. of works with an estimated cost of Rs.128.36 have been taken up in (4)
Non-Drought mandals with 100% Rice to provide wage employment to the
labours as a special case. Out
of which (52) works grounded, 30 completed, and 343.29 MTs of rice
utilized.
Further, 4524.86 MTs of rice required for payment to the works
already executed and not distributed with rice.
Efforts are being taken to complete all the grounded works by the
end of this month. F A R M
P O N D S
In the District (37,618) No. of Farm Ponds have been takenup in
(31) Mandals @ 5.00 qtls. per each Farm Pond. Total rice of 18,809.00 MTs
tiedup under this programme. (30,535) Farm Ponds are grounded, out of
which (17,146) completed and (13389) are in progress. Total rice utilized
is 4368.33 MTs.
