The total population of Nizamabad district is 20,37,621 as per 1991 census, while the BC. Population in the district is 8,30,549 which constitute 40.78% of the total population.

I. MAINTENANCE OF HOSTELS :

For educational development of Backward Classes Boys and Girls boarders (43) B.C. hostels of which (33) for boys and (10) for Girls are functioning in this district. (4102) boarders are given admission during the current year.

Out of (43) BC.Hostels (32) BC.Hostels are functioning in Govt. buildings and (11) BC.Hostels are functioning in Private buildings. Out of (11) Private buildings follow (3) BC.Hostel buildings are in finishing stage.

1) Girls, Jukkal
2) Boys, Morthad
3) Boys, Gandhari.

As mentioned above (3) construction of BC. Hostel buildings, will also occupied shortly. And (08) hostel buildings are functioning in private buildings. In which Govt. have sanctioned for construction of (5) Govt. buildings as shown below.

1) Boys, Makloor
2) Boys, Mopal
3) Boys, Nizamsagar
4) Boys,Birkur
5) Girls, Kmr.

II) RESULTS : The for year 2005-06 (601) BC.Hostel boarders were appeared for SSC examination out of which (359) passed in Ist division, (140) passed in IInd division and (35) passed in IIIrd division. Total pass (534) and the percentage is 88.85%, the District percentage is 83.30%. Out of (601) boarders (30) boarders were got 500 and above marks.

During the year 2006-07 an amount of Rs.272.81 lakhs has been released by the Director, BC. Welfare, A.P., Hyderabad. Out of which an amount of Rs.226.05 lakhs incurred.

In the hostel the boarder will provided food and other facilities with free of cost as shown below.

III) SANCTION OF POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS : During the year 2006-07 a sum of Rs. 187.85 lakhs is released by the Director, BC.Welfare, A.P., Hyderabad. Out of which an amount of Rs.179.48 lakhs has been spent for sanction of Scholarships to (7770) BC. Students. Under fresh Scholarships (13099) applications received and Rs.2.78 lakhs required.

IV. REIMBURSEMENT OF FEESES :- During the year 2006-07 an amount of Rs. 109.15 lakhs has been released by the Director, BC.Welfare, AP., Hyderabd. Out of which an amount of Rs.93.23 lakhs has been spent for eligible (6670) BC. Students.

V. STIPENDS TO I.T.I STUDENTS : During the year 2006-07 an amount of Rs.51,000/- has been released by the Director, BC.Welfare, A.P., Hyderabad. Out of which an amount of Rs.40,000/- has been spent for eligible (56) BC students @ Rs.150/- to each.

VI. INCENTIVE CASH AWARDS TO INTER CASTE MARRIED COUPLES : During the year 2006-07 the Director, BC.Welfare, A.P., Hyderabad has released an amount of Rs.55,000/- . Out of which an amount of Rs.30,000/- has been sanctioned to the (6) couples @ Rs.5000/- to each. Still (14) proposals are under consideration.

VII. SUBSIDY TO B.C. ADVOCATES : BC. Welfare Department is providing assistance to the BC. Advocates to enable them to improve their performance in their profession @ 4 Advocates per district.

1) An enrolment fee of Rs. 585/-
2) Rs.3000/- towards purchase of books & furniture.
3) Stipend of Rs.500/- p.m. for 3 years.

During this year 2006-07 a sum of Rs.45,000/- has been released by the Director, B.C. Welfare, AP., Hyderabad. Out of which an amount of Rs.12,000/- has been sanctioned to (12) trainees.

VIII. REGISTRATION OF NAYEE BRAHMIN & WASHERMEN COOP. SOCIETIES : Govt. have transferred the subject relating to Registration of Primary Nayee Brahmin Coop. Societies and Washermen Coop. Societies from the Registrar Coop. Societies to the Commissioner of BC. Welfare and consequently a District Committee for the Welfare of Nayee Brahmin has been constituted vide G.O.Ms.No.10 SW (P2) Dept., dt.25-1-1990. The Dist. Collector is the Chairman and the Dist.BC.Welfare Officer is the convenor.
